Wow I finally found time to blog!
Anyway, I went to Good Shepherd Kindergarten yesterday with my Project Work group members to organise an activity for our project. This activity is basically an 1 hour activity to see how the children of Good Shepherd Kindergarten interact with the intellectually disabled kids from MINDS school. Our project is about building a special playground catered to the intellectually disabled kids, creating a common play area for both the intellectually disabled and non-disabled. By doing so, it raises the awareness of the intellectually disabled among the society and also creates a more accepting society to them. The objectives of this activity is therefore to show that the kids from both groups interacts well and a playground will be a great help in promoting the interaction between them.
For the first half of the activity, we played ice breaker games together with the kids. All the games involved interaction between the itellectually disabled kids and non-disabled kids. For the second half of the activity, we brought them to the Good Shepherd Kindergarten's playground. I must say this activity went really well according to what we planned.
Even though the kids came from different schools and more importantly, different intellectual level, they interacted and play together well like any other groups of kids would. I feel that both groups of kids are afterall, the same, with the only difference is in their intellectual abilities. The intellectual disabled kids love to play and have fun as much as any other kid. It was really nice to see them interact with each other.
Ah well... Its dinner time. Shall stop here then. And meh... I want play BBALL!
